You can also get MS Virtual PC 2004 for free now too. I have had great success with installing Ubuntu and other Linux distros on it.
My need for Linux diminished last year when I returned to OS X. I'm running BootCamp and the VMWare Fusion beta for Windows needs. Now that I work as a BYU Computer Support Rep, I have access to Parallels too. All this virtualization capacity and little need...
I feel your pain with financial software. But my biggest gripe is the forced upgrades every few years. Thanks for the list Tom. I have played with most of them and I might still get MoneyDance.
What I would love to see is a service (or software) that can access the itemized receipts credit card companies supposedly keep. Then I could have all my purchases automatically categorized into my budget with precision and minimal effort. My wife has a hard time saving receipts and downloading transactions only gets me part of the way. I could easily spend two days a month categorizing expenses. So I've given up being that precise.
