BODY { MARGIN: 4px 4px 1px; LINE-HEIGHT: normal; FONT-VARIANT: normal}I just thought I'd share a recent success story we just had in our stake where technology has just saved our stake several thousand dollars a year.
Like many other stake centers, our stake center is too small to hold our entire stake for Stake Conference. To work around this in the past, the stake has hired an outside company to set up satellite equipment at the stake center and a receiving ward close by.
It was always a challenging task to get a decent signal because of trees in our area. We would hold stake conference in the winter time, when leaves were off the trees. This last winter, the a storm came the night before and blew off the satellite. LIterally minutes before stake conference was to start, they got the signal back up and working.
Aside of these challenges, it cost the stake $1200 each time ($2400 a year). The company just raised their rates to $2000 each time ($4000 a year).
We just used the internet to broadcast our stake conference from the stake center to another ward house. You wouldn't believe how easy it was to set up, how great the signal was. Initial equipment cost was $200. Yearly costs will be about $720 a year instead of $4000.
