I've added items to the Ward Calender several times. The interface works. If
you need to enter many items it is a problem - the same problem with other
calender interfaces. Having a direct access to the database simply bypasses
the review/approval process - It would not really reduce the effort required
to keep the information up to date.
The easiest way I know to reduce the effort required to keep a Ward/Stake
calender up to date is to get many people involved. I ask the Sectartaries
and Presidencies in each auxiliary/organization to input the calender events
and details. Since anyone in a Ward can enter an event the Ward webmaster
only need to review and approve or reject the entries. If you can get others
to help and support the webmaster the calling can be fun rather than a
burden. The president/counselors/secretary should all the information needed
to enter an event - let them enter the information - that way there are fewer
mistakes, more folks have an interest in keeping the calender current and
more folks will use it.
